Oooooooooh I got an image sent to me while at work.....

YES I BLACKED OUT MY ADDRESS AND STUFF AND I KNOW THAT SORT OF MAKES THE CORNER OF A CARDBOARD BOX UNEXCITING. SHUT UP.

Anyway, I got home and ripped that sucker RIGHT open.







Why yes, I did buy myself a blending board kit that included hand carders (which after like 30 seconds playing with them I know is going to involve a learning curve). This will be good when I eventually go completely mad and buy myself a goddamn fleece.

I bought the kit available here. It seemed like the best value for everything, especially considering that shipping on even just the rubber for the board along would have been like $30-50, plus $50-60 for the rubber carding cloth ALONE. I figured I might as well go all out.

This kit includes, per the listing:
(1) Daisy Fiber Co. Blending Board with adjustable foot and rolag dowels
(1) Flicker/Cleaner Brush
(2) Blending brushes- both standard AND fine,
(1) Standard size hand carder pair of your choice. (I got 90 TPI)

The whole kit has that raw wood and rubber smell. I like it.

Obviously I haven't had a chance to test it out; I'm still a few weeks out from getting the good toy that is going to go with this, which is like HINT FREAKING HINT, but yeah. I look forward to fumbling my way through making some rolags.

I even have a design in mind already! My inspiration?

Inspiration and Riding Things, Pt 1

Inspiration to write is hella weird. It can jump out of nowhere and bite you in the ass, it can wake you up from a dead sleep going, "WTF? Where is my notebook?" Or, inspiration can abandon you completely. That really, really sucks. I've been lucky the last few years that, by the time NaNo rolled around, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do. Execution is pretty terrible, but at the very least I like what I have and do enjoy the process. I go through a half-dozen plots every time, though. Some of them I still like, some of them are shelved permanently. A ton of them come from the Adopt-A-Plot thread on the NaNo forums, others come from watching movies, and some just pop up. What I'm trying to say, I guess, is know that it's always around. Don't shut inspiration out, or, more importantly, NEVER IGNORE IT. Paradise Fiber Club Box - August: A Pop Art Fiber Adventure

No super hype leadup this month, sorry, I've been super sick all through July and I'm just starting to get my enthusiasm back. However it does make the box anticipation all that more tolerable, when it's hardly there. Well, at least until the delivery notification showed up - then I got a little hype. :D That means, however, that I get to go into this month totally blind! No hints, no nuthin! It's nice. This month guest starring my mom's house, her...appropriately themed carpet, and Nacho. First view of the open box! In high school, my design class did an entire stint on the pop art style.
